Equipment of a public transport stop

Our proposal for the implementation of a bus stop at 108 Novoselskoho Street. We have developed 3 options for the bus stop, but we offer only one, why?

Option 1: Organising the pocket

Advantages.

- 25 cm high boarding platform
- the flow of other traffic is not interrupted

Disadvantages

- It may be necessary to relocate the trolleybus contact network to enter the pocket;
- in case of minor parking violations, the OT cannot drive up close to the curb before or after the stop, especially given that in cramped conditions, the entrance will not be 20 m, only 10, and manoeuvres are required to leave the stop;
- deprioritisation of the OT, as it will be more difficult to leave with the flow of cars, and if several cars are at the traffic lights, it will not be able to leave the pocket, which will cause it to go off schedule, drive slower and less predictably;
- at least 3 flower beds with trees and shrubs will have to be removed;

Option 2: Organising a stop on the lane.

We submitted this option to the city council for consideration.

Advantages.

- a boarding platform with a height of 25 cm;
- the flow of other traffic is not interrupted;
- green spaces are preserved;
- less reconstruction costs, as the current carriageway dimension is maintained in addition to the island separating the parking from the bus stop;
- the island separating on-street parking from the bus stop increases the chances that it will not be blocked and the trolleybus will pull up to the curb;
- the trolleybus continues to move immediately after stopping without manoeuvring;

Disadvantages.

- If someone breaks the rules after stopping and parks, it will be difficult for the GT to drive up to the curb

Option 3. Organising an anti-pocket.

Advantages

- full priority for PWDs: the trolleybus stops at the stop in a straight line;
- full protection of the stop from improper parking: the trolleybus/bus will always pull up to the curb (this is very important for MHM to safely enter the low floor);
- the platform is 25 cm high;
- preservation of green spaces;
- traffic calming by changing the visual width of the street;
- the trolleybus can enter Troitska from the right lane without having to change lanes (now they often drive from the right lane because they often cannot change to the left);

Disadvantages.

- traffic in this direction is blocked while the trolleybus/bus is stopped.
